Events

Elizabeth loves to connect our neighbors through fun events, some of which raise much needed funds for trees, holiday parties and more. The event dates fluctuate from year to year and will be posted here when they are announced but events usually happen during the same seasons each year, as noted below.

Elizabeth 8K Road Race

The 38th annual Elizabeth 8K will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2024. This is Charlotte’s oldest 8K race and also includes a 1.5M untimed fun run/walk as well as the Liz Kids’ Fun Run for the little ones. The course provides a fantastic tour of the scenic tree-lined residential and commercial streets of the Elizabeth neighborhood. Proceeds benefit the beautification of the Elizabeth neighborhood and TreesCharlotte. In addition to free t-shirts and entertainment from our very own Elvis, i.e. The Big E, participants and volunteers will enjoy our post race festivities that includes music, beverages, awards, and much more. Be sure to follow Elizabeth8K on Instagram and/or Facebook.

Elizabeth Egg Hunt

Elizabeth welcomes the return of spring with the family friendly Elizabeth Egg Hunt.  Kids of all ages are invited to bring baskets and hunt for stuffed eggs and meet the Easter bunny at this annual gathering.

The Annual Meeting

The 2023 Annual meeting was a great success and a new Board was elected. Stay tuned in Summer 2024 to find information about the 2024 Annual meeting, planned for September and reach out to us if you want to learn more about serving on the Board. And don’t forget to renew your membership each year to be eligible to vote at the annual meeting.

The Great Elizabeth Pumpkin Wall

A beloved Elizabeth tradition, the Great Elizabeth Pumpkin Wall will be lit on October 29th at 6:45 at 2023 Greenway. Every year, dozens of pumpkins carved by neighbors are stacked and lit to create an amazing display. The creative carvings are anchored by illuminated letters that spell out that year’s theme. The public are welcome to join us all for this event. Neighbors are welcome to come to the carving party on the 28th from 3-6 in the Rose Garden in Independence Park. Check your ECA email for details.

The Merry Meander

Born out of the Covid pandemic, the Merry Meander is a joyful holiday walk through Elizabeth on a Sunday night in December. Neighbors decorate their homes, play music on their porches, host cookie decorating and other kid friendly activities and generally share the holiday spirit through food and entertainment.
